April Newsletter
Mrs. Kuchnicki's Kindergarten
Hello Wonderful Kindergarten Families!
I hope you all enjoyed your Spring Break. I know that everyone was experiencing a little spring fever and we are looking forwards some warm weather and sunshine. It is hard to believe that we are at the end of the school year. It has been my experience that once we return from spring break the school year simply flies by. We have much to master prior to entering into the first grade. Your assistance is needed to make sure your student is ready. Please work daily at home with your child to make sure the homework skills sent home are understood and your student is able to perform the skills independently. We have 9 more weeks of school, so let's make every day of learning count.
We will be focusing on time and money in math, but I will be reviewing and assessing numbers this week as well to be certain all students are still strong in their number sense. I have set up a store in our classroom to help master our money sense during center time. We are focusing on reading and decoding words by using letter sounds and focusing on writing words using letter sounds in our literacy curriculum. Sight words and word families are being worked on daily. In science we will be focusing on the science fair experiment and we will continue to learn about life cycles and plants during the month of April. We will be learning about dangerous objects around the house in our health unit, and this week we will be focusing on what it looks like to be a successful learner in a classroom community for our social studies theme.
All the students have new seats this month and new crayons, pencils, and glue for the end of the year. I am asking parents if possible to send in Kleenex, hand sanitizer, table wipes, and snack. It is so helpful for each family to make these donations so that our classroom can stay healthy and we can all enjoy snack every day. I have purchased many of the above items several times in the last few months and would really appreciate any donations you are able to make, as I have other expenses at the end of the school year for our wonderful kindergarten students.
We will be going to the Binder Park Zoo for the end of the school year on May 14th. I will be sending home a chaperone note if you are interested in attending. This is a very fun activity! I wanted to share the date now, so you can plan ahead to attend the fun adventure to a true African Safari.
