Mrs. Dornbush’s Kindergarten Class
February Newsletter
Dear kindergarten families,
We are really focusing on sight words and reading now that we are in the second half of the school year. I want all of my students to be readers by the end of the school year. Please work on sight words and reading everyday at home. It is very important that we help the children to develop these skills.
We will not be having a formal Valentines Day party, but we will do a few activities during the day to celebrate. You are welcome to have your child bring in Valentines. We have 21 students (including your child.) The easiest way is to just have your child sign all of the valentines with their name. That way it is easier for them to pass them out. You may also send in a special snack or treat. I would prefer for them to be healthy, and to avoid having too much candy or too many cupcakes.
In math we are talking about graphing. Also, we are learning to do addition. Please practice addition with your child at home, because this is a skill that kindergarteners need a lot of practice with. In literacy we are focusing on learning sight words and reading. We are learning the -in (pin, tin, bin, etc.), and the -ip (hip, sip, dip, etc.) word families this month.
