Ms. Callahan’s Kindergarten Class
February Newsletter
As you all know this month is black history month. Our class will be reading books by African American Children's Authors everyday as a tribute to them. Ask your child about the story we read for the day. Our door is being decorated accordingly.
We have officially completed half of the school year and the students are enjoying the countdown to our 100 days of school celebration!
In our literacy curriculum we will be focusing on the letters Pp, Gg, and Ff. We will continue to work on all of the letters and letter sounds. We are really working hard on our writing every day with the idea that "if we can say it, we can write it". The idea of writing down our thoughts on paper to communicate is a skill that must be developed. We are working hard on our "think spelling" and matching our writing with the topic.
In math we are finishing up numbers greater than 30 and moving on to our graphing unit. We will be working on greater, than less than, and equal in centers and continue to strengthen our counting skills by 1's, 2's, 5's, and 10's. We will also be talking about number patterns, more, and fewer.
***I will send home more information about our Valentine's Party and 100th day celebration. See important dates on the back of this page.
Have a great week!
