Hello Parents/Guardians
Happy New Year's! "Great things are still happening at Shabazz Academy!"
The Greater Lansing Area Holiday Commission has been hosting their Dr. Martin Luther King Luncheon for 27 years. They ask for the Lansing Area Middle Schools to participate in the M.L.K. Holiday Commission Essay Contest. This year's theme is "I Am A Dream Keeper" This school year, we had a number of Shabazz's students to enter the contest. I am happy to say that one of our very own students placed 2nd place in the contest. We would like to send CONGRATULATIONS to Eliyahan Yahsha for a job well done! A special thank goes to Dr. Maxine Cain for taking the time to assist with the essays.
Shabazz Character Program: Throughout the school year, some of Shabazz's students will be recognize for their awesome character and behavior. So far, this year, we have had three students to be recognized for their outstanding character. I would like to congratulate the following students for such an excellent display of character, Jaleasea Armisted – Citizenship, Dhanthan Boggan- Self-Discipline, and Lamonte Adams-Integrity. WELL DONE!
Brrrr! It's starting to get cold in Michigan! Please make sure that your child(ren) is properly dressed for the frigid temperatures that will soon come.
End of 2nd Card Making: Our second school quarter will be coming to an end soon Mark your calendars for Parent-Teacher Conference for January 26th.
After School Tutoring: Tutoring began Wednesday, November 2nd and will continue until the end of the school year. Students in 6th grade will be tutoring on Mondays & Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30p.m.
Cold & Flu Season: Parents it is the time of the year of cold and flu season. Our sixth grade class is need of supplies such as, hand sanitizer, Kleenex, Disinfectant Spray and Wipes, so that we can keep those germs away. If possible, please donate these items to the class so that we can stay germ free.
Also: Parents please make sure that you replenish your child's regular school supply list throughout the year.
