Mrs. Underhill's 1st Grade Class
February Newsletter
Dear 1st Grade Family:
How are you? Our class is working hard, yet having lots of fun. We have many things to celebrate this quarter. Just to name a few: we are celebrating Black History Month, Valentine’s Day, President’s Day, and we have mid-winter break to look forward too. Look for exciting activities throughout the month of February.
Thank you for coming to your child’s conference. Most of you came by to hear how your child is growing academically. Our class has worked very hard this school year. I hope you are as proud of them as I am.
We are now in 3rd quarter. Check out what we are learning in each subject area:
Science – African American Scientist
Social Studies – Famous African Americans
Reading – Book Level 3 & Book Level 4
Math – money, measurements, greater than – less than, time, even & odd numbers
Language arts –narrative, persuasive writing & D.O.L
As you know, Valentine’s Day is on February 14th. We will have our Valentine’s party at 2:00 p.m. Please send a treat( nothing sticky) that your child can share with their classmates. Students who bring in $1.00 will also be allowed to attend the dance being held in the gym. Please address your child’s valentine’s card with the following: “To my friend, from (your child’s name).” There are 22 students in our class. Many of them still need help with their classmate names. Writing, “to my friend will help make distributing them easier.
Thank you goes out to Roshni’s, Hakeem’s, Dayonya’s, Nylah’s family. We appreciate the school supplies. A big thank you goes out to all of you for your continued support of our 1st graders?”
Have a Happy February!
Mrs. Underhill
